Born in Doncaster, Leigh ended up in her current home in Cambridge via Liverpool and London. Along the way she founded a magazine about women’s writing (and was one of the first to publish Carol Ann Duffy, among others), counted cars, built up her typing speed, worked as a journalist, and headed up communications departments for a range of voluntary sector organisations. It’s been an interesting journey!
In 2010, she completed an MA in Creative Writing at Anglia Ruskin University, and finished her first novel in 2016. Her second novel, Alice & Iris, was longlisted for the Lucy Cavendish Fiction Prize and BPA First Novel Award, and shortlisted for the Bath Novel Award.
When not writing fiction, Leigh is a humanist celebrant conducting non-religious wedding and naming ceremonies, works as a copy editor, and presents Bookmark, a show about books and writing on Cambridge 105 Radio www.cambridge105.co.uk/bookmark
She lives with her two daughters and three cats and can’t believe how she’s let herself get so seriously outnumbered.
